The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), Tuesday, said that four mobile telephones were recovered from a cell occupied by a convicted fraudstar, Ikechukwu Ogbu, at the Kirikiri Maximum Prisons, Lagos. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) an EFCC investigator, Mr. Daniel Danladi, at the resumed trial of Ogbu, for N12.3 million fraud, revealed that the mobile phones were recovered after a search was conducted in the cell occupied by the convict and two other inmates. Ogbu, alias Prince Eze was prosecuted by the EFCC and sentenced to 15yrs imprisonment in 2008 over advance fee fraud and related offences. The Super crook had defrauded a banker of the said N12.3 million right from his cell at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison where-in he had created a 419 syndicate with which he had been duping unsuspecting members of the public. His forte is what is known in advance fee fraud as love scam. He advertises himself as an eligible bachelor in desperate need of a wife and whoever responds may end up being in his long list of victims. Apparently being in a 4/12ft cell is not in anyway an impediment to Ogbu’s nefarious activities. One wonders what the prison authorities were up to, were they the courier of the phones or did they simply look the other way?
