With the introduction of the Blackberry came the emergence of a heightened form of social networking. People of like minds formed groups to discuss issues of common interest. Dr. Titus Ale, a lecturer at the College of Education, Ibadan, formed The LG RHYTHMS which has today become the biggest and most sought after social networking group in Nigeria. The group which is an umbrella of 26 cell groups is fast transforming into a social pressure group with firm presence on Facebook, Twitter and other websites. Two programmes are being vigorously pursued by members of the group with one of them focussed on contributing to nation building, through a conference titled, Leadership in Africa, LIA, conference billed to hold in Abuja. The LIA is being engineered by LG Current Affairs, one of Rhythms 26 cells with the groups Governor, Ogbeni Olawale Dawodu and Otunba Abimbola Davies with other members of the house in the forefront. The other event of no less importance, is the group’s 2nd Anniversary Party which will take place in October in Lagos. Expected at the event are top govt functionaries and Nigeria’s biggest celebrities. The organising committee led by Hon. Babatunde Ogala has promised that the programme will be loaded with laudable and varied activities, such as pre-party visits to motherless babies homes, health walk, book launch etc.
